The radula of most flabellinids are characterised by three teeth in each row. In the centre is a denticulated pointed arch-like tooth and on each side a triangular plate with denticles on the inside edge. A few species with 2 or 3 plates on each side are considered to be 'primitive'. In most aeolids, the radula ribbon is reduced to just the central tooth in each row.
