Berthella ocellata from Mediterranean France
October 21, 2005
From: Francis Bronnec
Hello,
I believe this slug is Berthella ocellata but I've never seen such a whitish specimen.
Locality: Frontignan, France, Mediterranean Sea. Depth: 12 m. Length: 50 mm. 15 september 2005. Photographer: Francis Bronnec
Is it really this species.
Thanks for your help,
Francis Bronnec

Bronnec, F., 2005 (Oct 21) Berthella ocellata from Mediterranean France. [Message in] Sea Slug Forum. Australian Museum, Sydney. Available from http://www.seaslugforum.net/find/15066Dear Francis,
From the shape of its head, with enrolled rhinophores and grooves along the edges of the oral veil, this is clearly a pleurobranch. Although very white, I would assume that it is Berthella ocellata. Hopefully a local expert can confirm that for us.
Best wishes,
Bill Rudman
