Halgerda from Ulladulla

Dear Bill,
Could you please help me identify this nudibranch I photographed in a sponge garden outside Ulladulla Harbour, on the south coast of New South Wales, Australia at a depth of about 15 metres. It was about 70mm long.
Thanks,
Tony Karacsonyi

Thanks for the photo. This is quite an interesting find and has features of both Halgerda graphica, which was described from South Australia, and the tropical Halgerda willeyi which is sometimes found in the New South Wales.
I think we would need to see a few more specimens to get an idea of its colour range, and look at its anatomy, before I could give you any good idea on whether it is an unnamde species or a colour variety of a known species.
Best wishes,
Bill Rudman.
