Akera soluta from Eilat, Red Sea

April 1, 2002
From: Dr. Jacob Dafni

Dear Dr. Rudman
I have collected mollusc shells for more than 30 years at Eilat, Gulf of Aqaba, Red Sea, and succeded to identify more than 600 sp. Opisthobranchs had been always my "Achilles heel". Only recently I was introduced to your website, which I find very useful. I need help in identification of the attached fragile opistobranch shell, collected in Eilat, Red Sea, many years ago.
Thanks
Jacob Dafni

Dear Jacob,
This is Akera soluta. Despite its large external shell, it is a close relative of the Sea Hares.
Best wishes,
Bill Rudman
