This book covers species of Nudibranchia and Sacoglossa encountered by the authors in Banyuls, France and the Naples, Italy over many years. It is not therefore a comprehensive coverage of the Mediterranean opisthobranch fauna but the 120 or so species that are covered, are covered in considerable detail. There are colour paintings of most species and detailed anatomical drawings. There are also introductory sections on the anatomy, embryology and phylogeny of the opisthobranchs. Not all the taxonomy and phylogeny would be accepted today, and the mispelling 'saccoglossa' is unfortunate, but this book is a very useful source of information on the anatomy and natural history of the species covered.
Most species descriptions include an English section but most of the text is in German.
