Tambja sp. 8

Suborder: DORIDINA
Family: Polyceridae
Subfamily: Nembrothinae

Ghavutu Island dumpsite in the Florida Islands, Solomon Islands. Crawling length: 21 mm. Depth: 15 meters. 3 Dec. 2000. Photo: Mary Jane Adams

This species was previously placed with Tambja victoriae [as Roboastra arika] but it varies in many aspects of the colour pattern, including the yellow edged rhinophore lamellae and gills and arrnagement of the yellow lines. The head region is not clearly visible so it is possible that this is a species of Roboastra rather than Tambja.
