Usually pale to deep orange, this relatively large New Zealand tritoniid extends from the low intertidal to over 200m at the edge of the continental shelf. In the shallow sublittoral it is usually found clustered on the orange alcyonacean Alcyonium aurantiacum on which it feeds.
