Concerning message #22215:

Sightings of this species seems to be occuring regularly in the Similans for the past few years.

I saw quite a few individuals at "East of Eden" during a trip in Apil '08. They were located relatively near each other but were not paired up or touching.

Locality: "East of Eden," Similan Islands National Park, 15 m, Thailand, Andaman Sea, 25 Apil 2008, reef. Photographer: Vie Panyarachun.

Dear Vie,

Thecacera sp. 4 is a spectacularly coloured species. It is surprising it has only become known in the last decade. I notice a branching bryozoan colony in your photos which could well be the food of this species.

Best wishes,
Bill Rudman
