Opisthobranch Symposium - California

Dear opisthobranch specialist,

The Western Society of Malacologists 2001 annual meeting will take place in San Diego, California, from June 27 to June 30. One of the three anticipated symposia will be dedicated to opisthobranch mollusks, in honor of the 50th Anniversary of the death of Frank Mace MacFarland. The objectives of this symposium are to bring together contributions to opisthobranch systematics and ecology and commemorate MacFarland's anniversary. This would also be a great opportunity to join again after the successful opisthobranch conference in Menfi, two years ago, and provide some continuity to a series of international opisthobranch workshops.

Unfortunately, funding is very limited so all participants will have to support their own expenses. The organization of the conference, presided by Dr. Hans Bertsch, will provide low cost lodging in San Diego, at the conference center. San Diego has a major international airport with reasonable airfares from all over the world.
