Cuthona from Heron Island
April 12, 2002
From: Julie Marshall
Dear Bill,
I have found this beautiful little aeolid twice at Heron Island [Great Barrier Reef]. The first animal, which we illustrated in our book as Cuthona sp. 6, was only 3 mm in size and had a wide mauvish brown band extending down each side of the body. The other specimen, which I found on my most recent trip to Heron Island last month, [March 2002] was almost twice as large (at 5 mm) but its band was bright blue! In all other external features it was the same as the 3 mm animal. Both animals were found under dead coral slabs at the reef crest.
Best wishes
Julie Marshall

Dear Julie,
I don't recall seeing this beautiful little species before. By coincidence I will call it Cuthona sp. 6 on the Forum as well.
Best wishes,
Bill Rudman
