Tylodina fungina? from Japan

Dear Nishina,
This is indeed another interesting find. Until the recent photo of Tylodina sp. from Okinawa (Hamatani, 2000), I know of no record of Tylodina or the similar Anidolyta from the NW Pacific.

I am not sure if your animal is a species of Tylodina or Anidolyta as they can only be distinguished anatomically. The mantle edge is said to be crenulate in Anidolyta and smooth in Tylodina but again I can't see the mantle edge in your photos. I very much doubt that it is the eastern Pacific species Tylodina fungina. The shape of the rhinophores seem more elaborate than the other species illustrated on the Forum so it is possibly an unnamed species. Perhaps Richard Willan who has studied these genera, can give us a comment.
