Described from Ghana, by Edmunds (1981), as Hypselodoris tema. Ortea et. al. (1996) consider it to be a subspecies of Hypselodoris picta. The relationship between all the colour forms of H. picta are still not clear to me but I am putting this on a separate subspecies page.

Dear Bill,
Here is another species from Dakar, Senegal.
I have never seen specimens like this, but according to general shape I think it is a colour form of Hypselodoris picta. I would like to have your opinion on it.
These photos were taken by Patrice in April 1999.

Dear Marina & Patrice,
This is an animal that Malcolm Edmunds (1981)described from Ghana as Hypselodoris tema. Ortea et. al. (1996) consider it to be a subspecies of Hypselodoris picta, and so call it Hypselodoris picta tema. The relationship between all the colour forms of H. picta are still not clear to me but I am putting this on a separate subspecies page. It is certainly an interesting find. The lower photo matches a photo from Ghana in Ortea et. al. (1996 - Fig 10F)

Dear Bill.
here is a photo from Bioko Island in Equatorial Guinea. I think it is an Hypselodoris but I don't know the name. The depth was 25 mtrs. on a sandy bottom, and the size was 5 cm.

Thanks for the photo. It is indeed a species of Hypselodoris. It is Hypselodoris picta which you willl see from the Fact Sheet, and earlier messages, is quite variable in colour. The colour pattern in your animal is almost identical to that in a photo from Ghana published in Ortea et al (1996).
