Nembrotha? or Gymnodoris? from Japan
October 6, 1999
From: H. Ono
Hello,
This is my first mail and question to The Sea Slug Forum.
I often enjoy fun diving at Tateyama, at the southern point of Boso Peninsula, Chiba pref, Japan (about 180km southsoutheast of Tokyo). On Sep 23th, 1999 a guide showed me a sea slug which I took a photo of.
Is this a "Nembrotha (Polyceridae)"?
Data: depth 14m,u nder the rock. water temp 25 degree. Length 50mm.
Thanks a lot,
H. Ono.

Ono, H., 1999 (Oct 6) Nembrotha? or Gymnodoris? from Japan. [Message in] Sea Slug Forum. Australian Museum, Sydney. Available from http://www.seaslugforum.net/find/1397Dear Mr Ono,
This could be a a species of Nembrotha or it could be a species of Gymnodoris. If you have any other photos, which show the side of the body, or the head, I might be able to have a better guess at what it is. I suspect though that we would need to look at the anatomy to be sure.
Best wishes,
Bill Rudman.
