Doris? at Mauritius
July 7, 1998
From: Erwin Koehler
Dear Bill,
this photo was taken by Georg Heinze, a friend of mine in August 93 at Mauritius. This photo was made with NIKONOS V and 28mm lens, without a close-up - this photo is enlarged. Georg said it's size was about 4cm, depth about 10m. More photos by Georg Heinze (Mauritius, Philippines, Mediterranean Sea) at: http://www.medslugs.de/E/mssmain.htm
Thank you
Erwin

Available from http://www.seaslugforum.net/find/99Erwin, Georg's photo takes me back to Tanzania, over 20 years ago. I am pretty sure his animal is the same as the one I have illustrated above, although the tubercles in the Mauritius photo are not tipped in black. Terry Gosliner records it from South Africa as well. (see Doris sp2. p. 62 in Gosliner, T., 1987. Nudibranchs of Southern Africa. Sea Challengers: Monterey). It is an unnamed species tentatively placed in the genus Doris... Bill Rudman
