UPPER: Ose-zaki, Izu peninsula, Japan, 5 June 2001, Depth: 26m, Length: approx 8mm. Photo: Haruo Kinoshita.
LOWER: Painting of holotype by Mr S. Kato. Tokioka & Baba, 1964 (Pl.10, fig. 8).
Described from a single preserved animal collected in Sagami Bay in 1956. [3.5mm long preserved]. The colour description was based on the colour painting copied alongside. The present photo differs only in the intensity of the green colour on the parapodia. In the photo of the living animal it seems that there is a well developed siphonal crest which is more typical of the genus Siphopteron than Gastropteron. Also the reduced number of outer radular teeth, as described by Tokioka & Baba, also indicate that this species may in fact belong in the genus Siphopteron.
