New chromodorid from Okinawa

April 4, 1999
From: Bob Bolland

Hi Bill:

The following two JPEGs are of a beautiful new(?) Chromodoris from Okinawa. These are the only two I've seen / collected here. Both were from the same general area on the reef forefront; they were found crawling on
the surface of mixed sand and coral rubble. I assume this is a Chromodoris and not Hypselodoris in as much as Terry has the animals and they were not mentioned in the latest Hypselodoris paper (Gosliner & Johnson, 1999).

Any idea as to what these might be?

Collection data as follows:
UPPER:  Notum: 19mm / 44m / Seragaki, Okinawa / 4 Apr '97.
LOWER: Notum: 25mm / 55m / Seragaki, Okinawa / 26 Apr '96

Cheers,
Bob

Thanks Bob,
I recall photos of this animal but I don't think it has been named. It seems a bit elongate for a Chromodoris but from painful experience the only sure way is to have a look inside. It is a beautiful species.

Best wishes,
Bill Rudman.
